As fitters we, understand there are many different backs out there with very specific needs. We offer several technical saddle pads that have a specific job and purpose. Our selection of pads is based on their fabrics, technical properties, and performance. We choose which pad best suits our customer based on their sport, their climate, the terrain people ride in, their weight, and distance/frequency of their rides. We offer saddle pads that can be shimmed when certain conformation problems create pain, imbalance, insecurity between the rider and the animal, and long-term health issues. We can change the width, asymmetry and rock within the pad, and help correct a too narrow tree, downhill build, dippy back. Some people will ask "why do I need to shim if I have a fitted tree"? Because I won't build an asymmetrical tree for example, or a tree that has a lot of rock to fit into a very dippy back either. Consider what I do inside the pad the same as what an English reflocker does under an English saddle.
For a newly built Double Diamond saddle or a saddle that our customers already own, we are able to correct minor fit problems and changes due to age, training, down time, growth and loss of tone and weight. We are very successful at offering sets of shims that allow one saddle to be taken from one animal to the other, within reason. A Paso Fino saddle will not work for a draft, for example. However, we do have success in helping riders create a collection of different thicknesses for the inside of the pad and can provide shims for correction that will allow you to take one saddle to several animals.
Our goal is to help equines perform without the distraction of pain and change when they change. We service Western, Endurance, English, flex tree and flex panel, and all saddles. All of our saddle pads have large shim pockets, not individual squares or stitch lines because orthotic is specific not generic so we need one large pocket and, a wide-open center to protect the spine from being concussed. We do not represent pads that lay over the spin in a continuous fashion with no spine protection. We can build pads that distribute rider weight for a treeless TO A DEGREE, however basic physics knows that only a rigid surface can distribute weight but, we can successfully keep a rider off of the spine right where they sit.
