Double Diamond Equine is a custom saddlery business born in Vermont in 1990, now located in North Carolina. Our focus is building high quality saddles that fit. Our saddles are offered on trees that go beyond saddles sold by their breed, one size fits all, and the limited norm of semi and full quarter horse trees. As seasoned fitters, we understand both dynamic and static fit, the many aspects of what makes good fit, and that no two mules, gaited, or horses are alike. Not sold by a gullet width or a wither tracing, we offer all of our models on dozens of tree fits by Steele Saddle Tree Company .
We build technical endurance trail saddles, lightweight western trail saddles , and hard-working western ranch saddles. We build for gaited, draft, pony as well as quarter horses, baroque breeds, mules and donkeys, smaller breeds and more. You’ll be amazed at the difference in your partnership with an animal that is not in pain.
EQUImapping is our saddle fit evaluation and correction service for all types of saddles. We have extensive experience with flex tree, flex panel, treeless, western, endurance with fit systems etc. All saddle fittings are by appointment.
We also provide a collection of technical high quality saddle pads not found in tack stores. We chose our brands based on the needs of our riders including: climate, discipline, terrain, weight of the rider, shimming needs.
As seasoned fitters, we understand both dynamic and static fit saddles and the many aspects of what makes for good saddle fitting.
Our custom endurance and western saddles offer your choice of a suspended ground seat, padded or hard seat, plus two seat depth options.
We also sell saddle pads, including Skito EquiPedic andThinline brands , a 'must have' for the long distance trail rider.
"The close contact design and suspended seat keep me happy while the custom fitting keeps my equines happy. Now all of the horses, mules, and donkeys that I ride are able to focus on learning their jobs and not distracted and derailed in their training by the ill fitting saddle on their backs."

Our goal is to create pain-free, focused, non-resistant harmony between the rider and their equine by eliminating the effects of pain, and through careful examination of both the static and dynamic movement, balance the rider, which ultimately gives confidence to the animal.
